APPRENTICESHIP EVENT

Educators can invite guest speakers into the classroom to talk about apprenticeship pathways in their company/industry or to share their experience of being an apprentice.

What is an Apprenticeship Event?

Young people learn about the different apprenticeship career pathways, what they can expect and how to find out about apprenticeships.

What is the impact of an Apprenticeship Event?

Apprenticeships offer a different route to a successful career in a wide variety of industries and companies. Apprenticeships come in many different forms - there are different qualification levels available to choose as well as a wide spectrum of job roles. Giving young people the opportunity to become better informed about a potential pathway that is still misunderstood by many can help them make the right decision for them.

Career Education Standard - I Can!

Here is one example per level of the areas of the "I can" framework that would typically be covered by engaging your young people in a career event. Download the mapping document for more!

By the end of second level

  • I can explain to others my ambitions/what I would like to do and look for ways to achieve them/that.

By the end of BGE

  • I can access advice and support to help me make informed choices about further learning and opportunities.

By the end of Senior Phase

  • I can identify the skills I have learnt across the curriculum, how these relate to the world of work and can apply these appropriately during work placements and other work-related learning.
