ROUTES AND PATHWAYS

Help students understand the wide range of potential careers paths available to them.

What is a Routes and Pathways Event?

A Routes and Pathways Event is an opportunity for students to learn more about to wide choice of potential careers available to them. This may include explaining the pathways that young people can take to obtain a job within a particular company or sector i.e. university, college, apprenticeship, or other employability schemes, or showcasing current job opportunities within your organisation.

How should I prepare?

If you have been invited to a routes and pathway event then we recommend speaking with the organiser directly to find out how you can prepare most effectively. If you have the resources then it’s great to share them with students i.e. leaflets, case studies, or some technology to showcase to students, as this will help them to engage them.

We find what works best would be for you to provide clear information on the options open to them and to showcase real-world examples so they can get a better understanding of what they would need to do/study to follow that career path.

What is the impact of a Routes and Pathways Event?

This event type is an excellent way for students to hear about the options open to them and how to access those options. Students can talk to different employers/organisations, gain an understanding of what is required to follow a particular career path - the different roles available, the routes into the industry, the skills, and the qualifications that are needed to be successful in today’s economy. This is an informal setting, where students can ask any questions they may have.
