Event description

KS3 Speed Networking Event

We are looking at planning a speed networking event for all our KS3 students on Monday 25th March (provisional date) and are looking for a mix of volunteers from both the world of work and education that would be willing to come into school to speak to students about their work, organisation, career journeys, educational routes, and different pathways into employment and education including apprenticeships and vocational options.

We are looking for volunteers that that would be happy to engage with students and answer questions about their organisation and own journey.
Please read about it below and get in touch with any questions.

Aim - We want students to be able to learn about different careers and entry routes to give them a better understanding of how they could achieve their career goals, raise aspirations, and broaden their horizons.

The event will not require any pre-preparation from participants, just a readiness to speak with students and give them insight into the world of work or education.

Who – The event will be for Years 7, 8, and 9; there are 210 students in each year group. This will be the first time some of the students have had to opportunity to have a face-to-face encounter with employers/employees, or education providers; we want to give students an understanding of their potential pathways and hope to raise awareness and aspirations.

What- We are looking for volunteers that can help the whole day, or for certain sessions/periods. The event will run across 7 sessions (periods) throughout the day with three or four form groups taking part in each session. The sessions will last 50 minutes each, there will be a 50-break in between (session 3). The first session will start at 8:40 and last will finish at 2:30.

Period 1: 8:40 – 9:30
Period 2: 9:30 – 10:20
Period 3: Break, 10:20 – 11:10
Period 4: 11:10 – 12:00
Period 5: 12:00 – 12:50
Period 6: 12:50 – 13:40
Period 7: 13:40 – 14:30

Where- The event will be held in person at our school. We are based next to Blackhorse Road tube station. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer parking and there are no public parking spaces available around the school.

Next steps- Please respond to this message, if you are happy to attend, I can send you out some more information. Thank you, we are excited to meet you!
