About the teacher and students

The event was created by Carmel Jones for 200 students at West Derby School aged Age 13 - 14.

Event description

Careers carrousel for Years 10 and 11 pupils. It is an opportunity for employers to join us in school and sell their area of work and secondly for the pupils to ask questions about the various fields of employment.

Our Careers Carousel for our Year 10, 11, and sixth form students.

Each of our contributors will have a large desk / stall and our students will circulate in pairs around the room.

They will have 5 minutes to talk to each of our contributors before a whistle is blown and they move on to the next stall. The students will be given questions to ask, but the majority of our contributors, during previous careers events, have found that most of our boys will freely engage in conversation. We usually have between 30 to 35 contributors from industry, employment and careers advisors and from further education estab

The careers event takes place over the whole of the school day. The timings are as follows:

Period 1: 9:20am to 10:20am

Break: 10:20am, to 10:35am

Period 2: 10:35am to 11:35am

Period 3: 11:35am to 12:35pm

Lunch: 12:35pm to 1:25pm

Period 4: 1:15pm to 2:15pm

Period 5: 2:15pm to 3:15pm

As we will have lots of visitors coming through Reception on the Morning of March 20th, can I ask that you arrive between 8:40am to 9:05am as this will give us time to sign our visitors in, and get them settled in our Activity Studio for a 9:20am start. There will be pastries and a hot beverage waiting for all of our contributors on arrival.
