Portobello High School S3 Creative Thinking Project Request for Support

I am the Developing Young Workforce School Co-ordinator at Portobello High School. I support school staff to liaise with outside organisations and employers to support curriculum delivery and build awareness of career sectors. I am seeking your support of an in school event.

A multidisciplinary staff STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and maths) team at Portobello High School is leading the delivery of creative thinking qualifications at the school. Developing the Young Workforce are supporting this school team with the organisation of the S3 Solarpunk Island Creative Thinking Project on Wednesday 21/2/24 and 28/2/24 from 12pm – 3pm on both those dates.

Here are the materials and resources describing the project: Solarpunk Island - Daydream Believers.

The team will challenge S3 pupils to work collaboratively on developing solutions to live sustainably after being marooned on an uninhabited island. We are looking for external professionals for the two afternoon sessions in February 2024 with expertise (very!) roughly in structures, sustainable farming methods, water systems, renewable energy, project management, ecology and team facilitation to act as reviewers/ mentors to the S3 project teams. The professionals will act as coaches/ mentors during two afternoon sessions of the project, answering the young people's queries and interacting with the small teams as they develop solutions.
