About the teacher and students

The event was created by Ian Poole for 150 students at The Hollyfield School and Sixth Form Centre aged Age 13 - 16.

Event description

Inspire our students

The Hollyfield school in Surbiton are inviting volunteers for our Future Careers Fair on Wednesday October 18th, 2023.

The Future Careers Fair is our main annual careers event for Year 11, Year 12, and Year 13 students. I am also planning to invite Chessington students in the Year 11 and Sixth Form.

We invite a variety of people from business, industry, and education to come and talk to the students about their own career journey and share their expertise. We have found in the past that many of the discussions which take place during the event inspire young people to go on to university or apprenticeships. The older students are also keen to find out about work experience or work shadowing opportunities to improve their chances of success in the future.

During the event the students circulate around the main school hall and other rooms having discussions with our guests. Students will be encouraged to have slightly more lengthy discussion(10 minutes) rather than the rapid speed networking model !

We are inviting our guests to arrive at 5.45 pm for a welcome bite to eat and a drink before the students arrive at 6.30pm. The evening ends at 8.30 pm.
Further details will be sent in due course.

Those able to come and join us for the evening should email Ian Poole the Careers Coordinator at the Hollyfield School. Ipoole@hollyfield.kingston.sch.uk
