The event was created by David Close for 25 students at James Brindley School aged Age 11 - 18.
Event description
Inspiring young people to think about their careers and be proactive in their choices
In this 30 minute session we would like to hear from different people about their career paths and how maths has helped them on the way. We are a small hospital school and we are looking to inspire young people to think about what their futures may hold. The session will be delivered to a mixed group of students ranging from 11-17 - the majority will be girls.
We would like speakers to ‘tell a story’ about their career journey (up to 10mins):
• How maths played a part and how maths is relevant now
• What inspired them to choose their career path
• Their failures, as well as successes
• What their company does and why this is important
• What they enjoy most about their career
• How maths played a part and how maths is relevant now
• Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now.
