Event description

Inspire Our Students - Durham County Council - Workplaces Project

Create a routes and pathways event to inform and inspire young people considering the vast array of potential careers available to them. This may include showcasing current job opportunities within your local community or explaining the pathways that young people can take to obtain a job within a particular sector i.e. university, college, apprenticeship, or other employability schemes.

My name is Emily Anderson, and I am working for Durham County Council on an exciting new project called the Workplaces Project.

The project aims to provide opportunities for Year 10 (Age 14/15) and Year 12 (Age 16/17) students, in County Durham, to gain an insight into the world of work and to find out more about the skills and characteristics that employers value. Through bespoke visits to workplaces, we aim to demonstrate to the students personal and employer standards and expectations to equip the students with some vital employability skills.

The team are aiming to help build the confidence and belief of the students so that they can identify, and subsequently, successfully apply for roles they might not otherwise have known were available or achievable.
