Event description

Earth Day Everyday - Virtual Work Experience Programme

'Every student should have first-hand experiences of the workplace through work visits, work shadowing and/or work experience to help their exploration of career opportunities, and expand their networks.' - Careers & Enterprise Company (Gatsby Benchmark 6)

We understand that work experience has been really difficult to bring back for many schools post pandemic and we want to support as many young people as possible in getting hands on, real work experience within the sustainability arena. This continues to be an underrepresented area with limited employees from diverse backgrounds.

“Earth Day Everyday” is a 2 - part programme, free for all secondary schools across the UK.

F4S will facilitate the programme and share some useful resources with you before the event.

PART 1 - Student Project work

This part aims to develop business skills such as creativity, communication and teamwork.
Students will be asked to think of a new green business idea and will be asked to complete a worksheet and PowerPoint presentation, in pairs or small groups.
This part of the programme must be completed before the online event to allow the work to be reviewed to allow us to provide your students with meaningful and supportive feedback.
During the online event, F4S will announce the winner of the group with the most impressive green business idea and students will receive feedback from our guest speakers.

PART 2 - Earth Day Everyday Webinar: 11th July

The event will take place on MS Teams at 13:30-15:00

Guest speakers will share a description of what they do and how their work preserves the environment and tackles climate change.
Students will then shadow a ‘day in the life of’ each speaker and observe some of their important work tasks.
You will observe a virtual workplace tour.
There will be dedicated time to discuss some of the students’ project ideas and feedback will be shared.
Q&A segment.
Interactive poll to further enhance knowledge and understanding around sustainability
F4S will announce the winners and share details of the group of students who created the most impressive green business idea before closing the session.

This is a great way to end the school year- leaving students highly motivated and driven, ready to take on the summer!
