The event was created by Ria Kirby for 300 students at Oasis Academy Don Valley aged Age 6 - 11.

Event description

Inspire our students!

Oasis Don Valley Primary has a wonderful opportunity for you to volunteer and set up a stall at our careers fair. Our plan is to introduce children to our local labour market, broaden their awareness of types of jobs beyond our community whilst building their aspirations.

On Wednesday 19th April 2023 we will be setting up our hall with stalls showcasing different careers, therefore we are asking for volunteers to talk about their current job and the advice you would give to someone wanting to do the job. Each career will have its own stall so please feel free to bring props and resources to display.

Speakers will tell a story about their career journey and answer questions similar to those below:

Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now

What inspired them to choose their career path

What their company does and why this is important

What they enjoy most about their career

Advice to children who would like to go into the job.

The careers fair will run from 9-2.45pm, with time to set up and arrive from 8.30am. Refreshments and lunch will be provided throughout the day and Academy staff along with myself (Fundamental Offer Lead) to guide the children and help with anything you need.
