Event description

Mentor Students - The Prince's Trust Enterprise Challenge the Business Game

Business volunteers can visit their local schools to support and encourage small groups of students, to maximise their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the person they aspire to be in this online challenge. They meet with students in small groups to answer questions and provide guidance throughout the Regional Challenge. For in school encounters, there is also the option of a speed mentoring format where business volunteers participate in a series of short, focused conversations about specific career questions and topics. Business volunteers meet a limited number of mentees.

This event is being facilitated in school by Learning to Work but you would gain the relevant training to be in school on your own following a DBS check. The training will provide you not only with the knowledge of the game and competition but also the protocol as a volunteer being in school. This is a fun and lively activity.

YOU WILL BE ALLOCATED A SCHOOL IN THE SLOUGH AREA

We need business volunteers to support students in Year 9 (13/14 year olds) participate in this Regional Business Challenge and help them take part in an on-line enterprise game. The competition introduces students to the concept of running a business, builds confidence, highlights skills for the workplace to enhance employability and self-efficacy. Students will work in teams of 5/6 as they work their way through this fast paced, fun challenge. The role of the mentor is to encourage teamwork, help students understand the concept of business terminology, encourage and motivate them.

13th October 2022, 1pm-2.30pm – On-line Mentor Training - Business volunteers learn about the Game and vital information around being in schools, general mentoring tips.

In School time and school TBC depending on your location - The Games Begin (1 full school day at your allocated school )

Aiming towards Regional Finals for successful teams. This information is still being finalised with each individual
