Event description

Careers Awareness Event

"In this session, business volunteers will share insights, lessons and tips to motivate and inspire your students to make informed decisions about their future.

Details of any apprenticeships/training schemes the college offers and more. This is an opportunity for students to speak with someone whose career choice interests them and to explore areas they may not have considered before.

The format of the day will be a carousel – informal ten minute chats with small groups of students round a table. Key areas of discussion could include:

Speakers will tell a story about their career journey:

Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now

What inspired them to choose their career path

Their failures, as well as successes

What their company does and why this is important

What they enjoy most about their career

Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now."
