West London Free School Careers Fair 2022
The WLFS careers fair happens every two years and is open to pupils in year groups 9 – 13 (13-18
year olds), it’s a chance for our pupils to speak to volunteers from a wide variety of sectors. The last
event was a great success and we managed to attract some outstanding professionals from a wide
range of sectors to talk to our pupils about their work. The range was fantastic - it included
politicians, music industry execs, medics, a vet, lawyers, tech professionals, engineers, fashion reps,
a journalists, representatives from QPR and the Foreign office among many others.
The aim of the fair:
The idea of the fair is to raise the aspirations of our students through exposing them to careers they
might not otherwise have considered, and we want to ensure we have a good breath of careers
represented.
What will it be like on the day?
Volunteers arrive after the end of the school day – anytime from 4pm for a 4.30 start time. Tea,
coffee and refreshments will be available.
We will provide tables and chairs and some information for your stand about you! Volunteers are
welcome to bring some display materials and/or leaflets / freebies - but these are by no means
essential.
"In this session, business volunteers will share insights, lessons and tips to motivate and inspire your students to make informed decisions about their future.
Speakers will ‘tell a story’ about their career journey:
• Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now
• What inspired them to choose their career path
• Their failures, as well as successes
• What their company does and why this is important
• What they enjoy most about their career
• Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now."
