Event description

Inspire our students from the rural North Isles, to discover more about sustainability and the different pathways and roles involved. **Online via MSTeams**

These events will take place online will be for the three North Isles Junior High schools in Orkney: Sanday, Westray and Stronsay.

Young people are passionate about sustainability but may not know that they can harness this passion into a future career.

The sustainability spotlight is on Scotland this year as the COP26 summit is taking place and our learners have been engaging with the themes of Nature, Finance, Energy Transition, Clean Transport, and Adaptation & Resilience.

We are looking for volunteers to talk about their job and how it connects with these themes and inspire young people in contributing to their own sustainable future and understand that they can combine their passion with a career and do a job they love.

This will be an opportunity for young people to develop awareness of sustainability for their future careers, to aspire and have equal access to sustainable career pathway opportunities.

In this session, speakers will share insights, lessons, and tips to motivate and inspire pupils to make informed decisions about their future.

Speakers will ˜tell a story “about their career journey:

Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now

What inspired them to choose their career path

Their failures, as well as successes

What their company does and why this is important

What they enjoy most about their career

Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now.
