Event description

Inspire our young people to Dream Big! - Focus on Home Economics and Physical Education
***This event will take place online using MSTeams***

The difference you make to our School
Allowing our pupils to engage with employers through the curriculum and learning and teaching is key for our young people to explore and research various careers and post school destinations in a relevant and engaging way. This has had a significant impact on the number of pupils moving into careers explored during these sessions so much so, we became the first school in Glasgow to achieve 100% of young people moving into positive post school destinations.

Our Request
I am looking for volunteers working in industry who would be keen to deliver Meet the Expert or/and practical sessions that promote careers from a variety of different subject areas.

The purpose of the event would be to help pupils develop their knowledge of professions and think about the different career paths that each subject could lead them to. Through this young people will broaden their knowledge of different career opportunities and the world of work.

The event will be used as part of the school options week where young people are encouraged to think about their future and pick subjects that will inform future career decisions

In this session, you will share insights, lessons and tips to motivate and inspire our pupils to make informed decisions about their future.

You will ‘tell a story’ about your career journey:

• Subjects you studied and how these are relevant now

• What inspired you to choose your career path

• Your successes, as well as times you didn't achieve what you set out to

• What your company does and why this is important

• What you enjoy most about your career

• Skills relevant in the jobs you are doing now.
