Event description

Inspire young people into a Sustainable Career

These events will take place online and will be open to all schools in Scotland
Young people are passionate about sustainability but may not know that they can harness this passion into a future career.

The sustainability spotlight is on Scotland this year as the COP26 summit is taking place in Glasgow.
Education Scotland is working with partners to deliver a ‘Countdown to COP26’ programme for Schools across Scotland to allow learners to engage with the themes of Nature, Finance, Energy Transition, Clean Transport, and Adaptation & Resilience.

Prior to this event pupils will have been exploring Energy Transition focusing on: From Fossil to Electric, Wind Farms & Solar and Micro Renewables in Developing Countries

We are looking for volunteers to talk about their job and how it connects with these themes and inspire young people in contributing to their own sustainable future and understand that they can combine their passion with a career and do a job they love.

Throughout the week young people will be encouraged to EXPLORE – CHALLENGE – ACTION & SHARE.

In this session, speakers will share insights, lessons, and tips to motivate and inspire pupils to make informed decisions about their future.

Speakers will ˜tell a story “about their career journey:

Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now

What inspired them to choose their career path

Their failures, as well as successes

What their company does and why this is important

What they enjoy most about their career

Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now.
