About the teacher and students

The event was created by Rachel Beddoes for 25 students at Dixons Fazakerley Academy aged Age 13 - 14.

Event description

To infinity and beyond.... where maths after GCSE can take you.

Three schools from a Multi Academy Trust have each asked for a session to inspire their Year 9 girls with studying maths beyond GCSE.
The whole session will be an hour, led by a member of the Advanced Maths Support Programme. In the first part (max 30 mins) we would like to have a panel event containing relatable but inspiring women like yourselves. In the second part we will be having an interactive maths activity for the students to complete. (You are not required to take part in that)

Speakers, please ‘tell a story’ about your career journey (5- 10mins) including some of the following.

How did you feel about maths at school?
What subjects did you go on to study
• How maths played a part and how maths is relevant now
• What inspired you to choose your career path
• Your failures, as well as successes
• What your company does and why this is important
• What you enjoy most about their career
• Skills currently relevant in the job you are doing now.

Q&As will follow to end the session.
THANK YOU
