World of Work Week (WOWW)
As a result of the restrictions and changes due to the current pandemic, students across the country are unable to undertake work experience as has been tradition for decades now.
Here at The Wilnecote School we are looking at alternative ways to share the world of work with our students and to give them some kind of experience to meet with people who are employers, employees, business owners, entrepreneurs etc and to discover more about the choices that exist beyond high school. This has led to the event we are calling the World of Work Week.
Across the week we are scheduling a number of different sessions where students will learn about a wide variety of knowledge and experiences around the world of work. Examples include a team building session with a local PT, writing CVs, an enterprise challenge and a speed networking session. This is where we would love for you to be involved.
We would really like a range of people who will take a seat in our speed networking session and meet with all of our year 10 students for a few minutes at a time. The plan is for the students to be in groups of 4 or 5 and to rotate between all of the different people from the world of work. Each team of students will ask each person a few questions before moving on to the next person.
Your profiles really stood out to us as a school and we would very much love for you to be involved, to talk a bit about what you do and to help broaden the horizons for our students.
As this is a speed networking session rather than a speaker session, we would really like for you as our guest to be in school for longer than 1 hour. We would hope to run the networking session between 9am and 12 with a break in that time.
This will be an in person event and we will of course adhere to the most up to date government measures and guidance in response to the pandemic.
I really hope that you are able to join us for the morning.
