Help give young people an inspirational end to a challenging school year!

This session is part of a week of Career Inspiration events hosted by e-Sgoil - Scotland's National online school. We are heading towards the end of the school term in Scotland in what has been a really challenging year for Teachers & Pupils.

To address this, e-Sgoil have planned a week of activity for the end of term, from Friday June 18th until Thursday June 24th which will be available to all schools in Scotland.

If you cannot manage the time slot you have been invited to, but want to take part, please contact community@founders4schools.org.uk and we can offer you another time slot.

The sessions will be 30 minutes long, 20 minutes presentation and 10minute Q&A. Each session will only have one speaker. We are also hoping to record these sessions but would only do so with your permission.

In this session, Speakers will share insights, lessons, and tips to motivate and inspire pupils to make informed decisions about their future.

Speakers will "tell a story" about their career journey:
- What inspired them to choose their career path
- Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now
- Their successes, as well as times where they didn't achieve what they set out to and what they learned from the experience
- What their company does and why this is important
- What they enjoy most about their career
- Skills they have learned that are relevant in the job they are doing now.

This will be followed by a Q&A session where pupils are able to ask questions.

How will Pupils Benefit?
These events allow pupils to hear from real-life role models who can demonstrate the relevance and connection of what is taught in the classroom. They bring the curriculum to life and allow them to gain an understanding of what different careers entail.

They are a popular way of engaging young people with the world of work as they allow a great deal to be achieved in one setting and, when taking place in school, can provide the opportunity for a relaxed one to one conversation between young people and potential employers. This aspect is particularly important in creating interest and building confidence in future pathways for young people.

These meaningful encounters inspire young people and have a positive impact on their future life chances.

By the end of second level - I can apply my skills to get more information about jobs/careers.
By the end of BGE - I can manage my profile, share it appropriately and justify my choice of evidence.
By the end of Senior Phase - I can draw appropriately on evidence from my skills profile to help me complete application forms, create CVs and when practising interview techniques.

Age Appropriacy: This type of event is appropriate for any student aged 5 through 24. Refer to our white paper pages 9 and 11 for more details. This white paper summarizes more than 100 externally validated research papers on career pathways for students.
