Helen Wardropper

Hello! I work for UMi, County Durham in a Compliance, Risk and Assurance role. What is UMi?....Think Dragons den, think business ideas, lightbulb moments, and then all of that becoming amazing businesses! UMi helps make some of the magic happen behind the scenes . UMi, in short, is a diverse field of support and opportunities for businesses, a great one stop shop, with a new UMi platform currently in its infancy. Recognised as one of the Top 100 Best Companies to work for, and now also in the running for a North East title, yet another brilliant string to add to its bow. As well as supporting businesses in start up and development, its also supports business growth largely, and also via delivering contracted grant funding schemes throughout Covid 19, which has helped businesses diversify what they do, and essentially, help them to remain in business.

Event description

Inspire Our Students at our Careers Explorer event

We are holding a Careers Explorer event for our Year 10 students to give them the opportunity to explore potential career pathways. As part of the event we would like our students to have virtual encounters with employers. This will give our students the opportunity to hear more about the career pathway of the speaker, to find out a bit more about the employer and the types of roles available, and to give students the opportunity to ask questions.

The session will last for one hour and will involve up to 50 Year 10 students (14/15 year olds) who will be in two rooms to make the event more manageable. There will be two teachers who will facilitate the discussion.

We have invited a number of speakers to the session so that students have the opportunity to hear from different speakers and are able to find out more.

This is session THREE of three different sessions taking place during the day. This session will start at 2:30pm.
We also have sessions taking place at 08:45 and 13:30.
