Event description

Inspire Young People to choose to study a Language
This Event will take place on MSTeams

The purpose of the event is to help pupils develop their knowledge of professions and think about the different career paths that studying a language could lead them to. Through this young people will broaden their knowledge of different career opportunities and the world of work.

The event will be used as part of the school options week where young people are being encouraged to think about their future and pick subjects that will inform future career decisions.

Role Models in the business world and their valuable experience would help our pupils understand what is needed to achieve this.

We are also keen to demonstrate to student’s how studying a language can open a world of opportunities to them. I am looking for volunteers who use or have used languages in their working life to come and give a short career talk..

In this session, business leaders will share insights, lessons and tips to motivate and inspire your students to make informed decisions about their future.

Speakers will ‘tell a story’ about their career journey:
• Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now
• What inspired them to choose their career path
• Their failures, as well as successes
• What their company does and why this is important
• What they enjoy most about their career
• Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now.
