Career Talk - Food & Drink Industry

Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne creator of the first fresh gluten free bread and founder of Genius Foods and Susan Stuart Director of a country hotel with an award winning restaurant, are inspiring role models ready to pass on their experience to students who have an interest in pursuing a career in the Food & Drink sector.

This is a Food & Drink industry focused event from which young people can gain information about the skills, knowledge and qualifications required by the sector. It will open up new possibilities, validate aspirations, and have a significant impact on young people.

The speakers will be sharing insights, career guidance, lessons and tips to motivate and inspire students to make informed decisions about their future.

This will be followed by a Q&A session where students are able to ask a variety of questions.

Speakers will talk about their career path:

  • What inspired them to choose their career

  • Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now

  • Their successes, as well as times where they didn't achieve what they set out to and what they learned from the experience

  • What their company does and why this is important

  • What they enjoy most about their career

  • Skills they have learned that are relevant in the job they are doing now.

How will Students Benefit?
Career Talks allow students to hear from real-life role models who can demonstrate the relevance and connection of what is taught in the classroom - because they are creating the jobs right now!
They also allow students to gain an understanding of what different careers actually entail, while bringing the curriculum to life.

The goal of this talk is to equip students with the inspiration and information to make better-informed decisions about their future career paths.
