Developing Soft Skills - including those needed to enter Further Education
Gerry Ogilvie - Creative Director at The Fun Gang and Laura Johnstone - National Manger for Scotland at the Brilliant Club will join today's Webinar to talk about the attributes that students need to develop to boost employability, develop enterprise opportunities and prepare them for entering further education and the world of work.
Soft skills are integral to any workplace, professional environment or business setting. Whilst these skills are learned indirectly through daily interactions throughout a child’s broad general education, there is an increasing focus on the significance and development of emotional intelligence, communication abilities, language skills, personal habits, cognitive or emotional empathy, and leadership traits. These soft skills are crucial in supporting a child’s development towards their readiness to work.

Presenters will talk about:
-Their experience of developing and using soft skills, including experiences of when they wish they had them!
-How important Soft Skills are in the world of work.
-How soft skills have helped them become better employees, by improving their communication skills, resilience and confidence so they can be a more effective team member
-Talk about techniques to help pupils develop Soft Skills.

In addition to this, students will gain an in-depth understanding of why skills such as resilience, conflict resolution, communication and independence are important within the workplace.
