Event description

Skills Building and Citizenship

Skills Building and Citizenship education is about enabling people to make their own decisions and to take responsibility for their own lives and communities.

These events help pupils learn a range of attributes to boost employability, develop enterprise opportunities and prepare young people for the world of work. In addition to this, students can gain an in-depth understanding of why integral skills such as resilience, conflict resolution, interpersonal skills and independence are important within the workplace.

We are looking at 2 sessions, one between 11.15 and 12.15 and the other between 1.00 and 2.00. Each for half the year 10 school year (up to about 120 students in each session). We would like the session to be interactive and help them to improve their decision making skills, looking at how they can become good citizens in the world of work.

We would like the speakers to help the students identify what employability and decision making skills they would need - this could be through an introductory presentation, followed by interactive activities, but happy to talk through what the presenters think would work well for this student group.
