Event description

Knightswood Secondary Developing the Young Workforce Careers Evening

The rationale for the event is to raise awareness to all our young people that there are many excellent career and training opportunities available; for all pupils regardless of academic level. The event will also raise awareness of the different career areas and how they can enter the different professions and progress within them. This will enable them to make informed choices with regards to applying for apprenticeships, subject choices at school, university, college and training in addition to their course choices in S4-S6.

Event Key Objectives:

  • Raise aspirations and increase career knowledge of our pupils.

  • Promote current employment and apprenticeship opportunities.

  • Raise awareness of the five career sectors highlighted for future growth: Financial Services, Life Sciences, Low Carbon Industries, Hospitality and Events and Engineering.

  • Showcase Academic and Vocational pathways.

  • Opportunities for pupils to develop their Skills for Learning, Life and Work.

  • Promote STEM careers to help address gender disparity.

The format for the evening will be each business hosting stands, setup in the assembly for parents/ pupils to walk around to network. Organisations are welcome to deliver presentations or workshops on the evening to which parents and pupils can ‘sign-up’ on the evening. A room with ICT can be made available to facilitate this. please advise if you wish to present on the evening.
