Event description

Inspire our teachers through a workplace visit

We are keen that our staff gain a knowledge of future skills through workplace visits to deepen their knowledge of progression pathways.

On the 11th October (our school In-service day), between 1.30pm and 2.30pm we aim to send our teaching staff out to local businesses, colleges and training providers in order to expand and deepen their understanding of progression pathways for the next generation of school pupils. We feel strongly that a 'real life' experience of the current workplace would have a greater impact in the individual classrooms on their return and promote conversations about relevance and coherence of the curriculum in our secondary school.

For some of our staff, it has been many years since they have had real life experience of business/college and as such, we believe that it would be hugely impactful if a few members of our staff team could participate in a tour of your workplace and/or have a chat about the skills you would be looking for in the young people for whom we teach and aim to shape to meet future labour market demands.

We hope to have tours running simultaneously for approx. 60 staff between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on the 11th October. We would be massively appreciative if you would be able to support us by offering a tour.

Our aim would be to match teachers of relevant subject areas to each business if at all possible.

Thanks in advance,

Pam Davie
Deputy Head Teacher (S5/6)
