Event description

Careers Fair on 27th February 2010 - Informing and inspiring the next generation!

You will no doubt have your own story about what "careers" was like at your school. Schools face a daunting task nowadays; to prepare our students for a fast changing world of work, and, potentially for jobs which do not even exist yet! It has therefore never been more important to run events such as our careers fair to get students thinking about the type of work they may be well suited to in the future. That's where you come in...

We need representatives from a broad range of sectors who can talk about job opportunities, pathways into different roles, qualifications required, details and insight about the roles within the industry you represent etc etc so that our students can start to make decisions about what they do and don't want in a future career.

The format of the day is as follows: Companies will set up stalls in our Auditorium. We would LOVE for you to some technology or object to showcase to our students what you and your company does. In past years we've had Virtual Reality goggles that students can see new building plans through to show students the future of architecture. (Students understand what is being explained to them best with some kind of visual aid.)

There will be 3 full year groups attending the day at different times, but each year group will have the opportunity to informally approach lots of different employers, talk to them personally and ask questions.

It is important to note that there should be no expectations of any job opportunities being offered by business leaders at a careers fair but this is a great way for students to experience a wide range of businesses in their local community and for businesses to begin to build their talent pipeline.

Lunch and refreshments will be available on the day.

Further details about parking etc. will follow nearer the time.
