Event description

Get Work Ready is a whole-day programme where students in year 11 will begin to learn what today's employers look for in their workforce.

Students take part in interview and job application challenges that local, national and international employers use within their current recruitment processes. Individual and team assessments, thinking ‘out of the box’ tasks, customer service activities, practical and written exercises, and interviews are delivered by the business volunteers who provide real and honest feedback. Workshops generally last 40-45 minutes.

In these sessions, business leaders hold mock interviews, which are an emulation of a job interview used for training purposes.
Students can meet with business leaders one-to-one or in small groups within the same classroom. The mock interviews can range in the length of time depending on the group size. The key is that the students have a chance to prepare ahead of time and understand this is a great learning opportunity to practice their skills and build their confidence.
