Event description

Discover Believe Become - an interactive, engaging whole-day programme for year 9 students

Discover, Believe, Become is a whole-day programme where students explore careers, beginning to understand the skills and qualities required by today’s employers. Qualifications required, potential salaries and progression routes through self-assessment, allows the young people to build a personal profile. They begin to see pathways for personal development and give attention to their future plans.

A successful business leader can inspire a group of students by talking about the journey they took from school through their career. This format usually includes one business leader talking for a short period of time. Each speaker generally talks for approx. 10 minutes.

A business leader can ‘tell a story’ about their career journey:
• What inspired them to choose their career path
• Why they find it high impact
• What they enjoy most about their career
• What subjects did the study and what decisions did they make along the way
• What mistakes did they make and how did they learn from them
• What skills is their company currently looking for in their new hires
These meaningful encounters inspire students and have a positive impact on their future life choices.
