On Friday 6th September, we will be holding a mock interview session for our Year 11 cohort, this is part of a two day programme of careers work involving CV writing, letters of application writing, talks from universities and apprenticeship workshops. Each student will be allocated a 20 minute interview slot with an employer to support their careers programme as they move into Year 11. The aim of the mock interviews is to have the Year 11 cohort think about interview skills and techniques but also to think about their self presentation skills and how well they develop their ideas. We are hoping that this will help prepare them a little further for Sixth Form, volunteering, part time jobs, work experience and summer school interviews. The feedback from last year's event was overwhelmingly positive from students and employers a like " Extremely useful. It enabled me to get into a real-life interview situation, so I can get a taster of what to expect in a real interview. By talking with experienced people, it meant I was able to ask them questions about how they were capable of getting through the beginning of their career journey". I would like to invite you to be part of the day and carry out student interviews, I do hope you will be able to join. The session will run between from 8.45am and 12.30pm with questions and feedback forms provided. You are more than welcome to join us for the whole session or for part of it.
