Event description

Abbey Park Careers Fair; an interactive job carousel to inspire Year 9 students to explore different career possibilities

We are planning an inspiring careers fair at Abbey Park School on the 19th June for 1 hour. The time is still to be confirmed.

We would like business leaders and people from different careers to come along and set up a stall. Ideally it would be great if you could bring something from your job to show students and give them an insight into what your job is like. This could be as simple as photos of your work place or an activity that you do to act as a conversation starter and to give a snap shot of your work. We would like you to share with students what your job is like and how you got there.

Our aim is to inspire students to look at a range of careers and to encourage them to look beyond school and exams and to plan and be excited about their futures.

Companies will set up stalls in a space set up by the school and may bring business cards, leaflets or some technology to showcase to students. Students will have the opportunity to informally approach lots of different employers, talk to them personally and ask questions. It is important to note that there should be no expectations of any job opportunities being offered by business leaders at a careers fair but this is a great way for students to experience a wide range of businesses in their local community and for businesses to begin to build their talent pipeline.
