Event description

The Art of Engineering science fair

Inspire and educate our students during our science project, where we hope to show them the opportunities available to them in science. #

Last year our Year 5 Science Day was a success, with 99% of pupils agreeing that they enjoyed the fair! 240 pupils attended and engaged in a carousel of activities including laboratory experiments, presenting their own science projects and having the opportunity to speak to STEM ambassadors. This year our project is supported by The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Metaswitch. The title of our project this year is ‘The Art of Engineering’ and our pupils will engage in engineering workshops prior to the science day, which will explore the fundamentals of engineering and demonstrate different engineering technologies including how things work and move.

Pupils from 15 of our schools will work on engineering-related projects, the best of which will be showcased and these will be judged by a panel of STEM experts. Pupils will get the opportunity to participate in a ‘who am I?’ quiz; pupils will question people working within STEM industries to find out what they do. We want to show the range of career opportunities to all pupils. We would welcome as broad/diverse a range of careers as possible. We are looking for people within STEM industries to come and participate in our 'who am I?' quiz and if possible to also be a part of our judging panel. There will also be some opportunity to showcase your own work with a stand/stall during the day. As you can see this event will be very influential for our children and we feel it will give them an insight into the vast opportunities a career in science can achieve.

There is also the opportunity to support our secondary school science fair taking place the next day, see the link below for more details:
