Event description

STEM Marketplace. An opportunity to meet STEM professionals, gain a better understanding of STEM workplaces & pathways to industry

We have 58 S2 pupils who are coming to the end of the second year of a dedicated STEM curriculum which aims to foster enthusiasm about STEM, develop skills through projects and STEM co petitions such as the Big Bang Fair, Tomorrow’s Enginners Robotics Challenge , Go4Set and BP challenge.

Pupils started this year with a speed dating network event with STEM ambassadors, and
we would like to end the year by hosting a STEM marketplace event at Larbert High School.

This would involve running an assessment day activity which would see you give a small group of pupils a challenge which you would observe and then select pupils from the group to be successful candidates who would then be invited to a workplace visit with yourself at a later date in May or June which suits yourself.

We know that as well as interviews many workplaces now have a challenge or group activity in order to assess applicants and we would hope to try and replicate that here.

The event would start with each STEM professional giving a short 5min presentation on their company and role.

Each visitor would then be given their own room, and a group of pupils who had selected that industry would arrive to take part in the assessment group challenge you have selected.
You will also have time to interact and speak to the pupils.

We hope that the pupils who impress you most will be able to visit your place of work in order to have meaningful interactions with employees.
