Finding Your Future
Asks volunteers from business to inspire and encourage students to realise their potential and explore the opportunities offered by higher education pathways. We will connect young people with relevant role models to bring graduate jobs to life for students who have the potential, but not currently the inclination, to pursue higher education including degree courses at university as well as higher or degree level apprenticeships.
The content for the 16years + students will include the following:
• Session A– Tuesday, 29 January: Communication and presentation skills, awareness of social media and the power of LinkedIn as a networking tool, recruitment processes including assessment days to support graduate open days and career pathways.
• Session B - Wednesday, 30 January: What makes you, You? Career speed networking with professionals.
What will the Business Ambassadors be asked to do?
• Session A- The business role models will be supported to work alongside the Learning & Development Mentors at the college and BITC . Business Ambassadors will have the opportunity to share their experiences of communication, presenting well, use of LinkedIn as a professional tool and recruitment processes including assessment days. This is a one hour session repeated throughout the day. If you could provide 0.5 day support that would be fantastic but if you would like to stay for the full day that would be incredible.
• Session B – We need your support in providing students with the opportunity to find out more about you and your company through a speed networking event. This is a one hour session repeated throughout the day. Ideally this will work better as a full day with your valuable support with representation from up to 12 individual employers.
We will be offering briefing sessions to Ambassadors in advance of the delivery date, in order to prepare and go through content for each module.
