The event was created by Maria Woodhouse for 25 students at Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy aged Age 15 - 18.
Inspirational speakers week, we are looking for employers and entrepreneurs to share great stories and personal career related experiences.
We are looking for employees/employers from industry for our Inspirational speakers week to speak to a group of approximately 30x students (aged between 14 and 18 years) about Careers in your field/industry to raise aspirations. This will be for approximately 30-45 mins with time at the end (approximately 10-15 mins for students to ask questions in a Q&A)
We currently have time slots and dates available between Monday 4th February and Friday 8th February 2019.
It would be great if you could cover the following in your talk:
What is (your career) ?
What roles there are there within your industry?
Reasons to work in your industry?
Skills needed to work in your industry?
Career progression in your industry and what you could earn?
How to get into a career within the industry you work in?
Please feel free to share some of your great stories and personal experiences.
Speakers will ‘tell a story’ about their career journey:
• Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now
• What inspired them to choose their career path
• Their failures, as well as successes
• What their company does and why this is important
• What they enjoy most about their career
• Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now.
