Event description

Making Languages Work

I would like to organise a roadshow with stalls with industry experts exuding energy and enthusiasm. Students will visit in year groups and have a questionnaire to fill in based on conversations they will have with you. They should have the chance to ask lots of questions, but will also need to be encouraged to approach stalls and get into conversation about employment possibilities, thinking out of the box, considering careers they had never thought of and being inspired by people who are passionate about their work.

My own motivation for staging this event is to highlight the importance of being able to speak more than one language. An emphasis on the importance of good communication skills, especially when trading with businesses outside the UK would be my main plea for this event. Can you help motivate our youngsters to look beyond Penicuik, beyond Scotland to the rest of the world?

The actual event would run from 1.55-3.35 pm.
