These business leaders have been chosen because their companies are growing quickly. Combined they employ 2,364+ people.
The event was created by Thomas Lange for 250 students at Queen Anne's School aged Age 15 - 18.
Exploring the world of work: it’s my future
Business leaders from fast-growing local businesses can join career fairs all year round.
This early evening event (5.30-7pm), to be held in the sports hall at Queen Anne’s School, will be open to Years 9-13 and other local schools . The theme of the event is a careers forum, which will be loosely divided into 13 different industry sectors. We are now asking for you to join some of our parents and alumnae to volunteer to come and talk to students about your job. You do not need to do any preparation but need to be prepared to answer questions from pupils about what you do. If you work in marketing, for example, what does this mean on a day-to-day basis; what skills do you need to be successful; who might this type of career suit; how might you start a career in this sector now?
The evening will be a great opportunity for our pupils to find out about many different jobs whilst practising their networking and communication skills. These are fundamental skills for future employability and we need to give our pupils opportunities to practise them (we recently learnt of an organisation that uses a networking event as an explicit part of their selection process).
We really hope that you will be able to join us on Thursday 31 January.
Companies can set up a banner for some brand awareness in a space set up by the school and may bring business cards, leaflets or some technology to showcase to students. Students will have the opportunity to informally approach lots of different employers, talk to them personally and ask questions. It is important to note that there should be no expectations of any job opportunities being offered by business leaders at a careers fair but this is a great way for students to experience a wide range of businesses in their local community and for businesses to begin to build their talent pipeline.
