These business leaders have been chosen because their companies are growing quickly.
The event was created by Vikki Haines for 150 students at Bloxwich Academy aged Age 14 - 14.
Inspire our students by conducting upto 8 mini interviews sessions with Year 10 students lasting 15mins with 5 min feedback to the student.
Objectives for the Year 10 students to achieve during these sessions are:
To experience what an interview would be like
To understand what constitutes a good interview
Feedback given to help them prepare for future job/College/Uni Interviews
Communication skills, eye contact, hand shake etc. (students will have been prepped about this prior to interview but to have it acknowledged would be great)
A sense of positivity about how they have presented themselves and how they talk about themselves
A sense of wanting to succeed and having someone (not school related) recognise that they have great potential IF they now apply themselves for their final years.
Identify what skills they think an employer is looking for.
Employers Preparation Required
Please ensure you bring a form of photo ID with you for safeguarding purposes as the school will not allow you into the school without it.
You will conduct 8 mini interviews sessions with Year 10 students lasting 15mins with 5 min feedback to the student.
Interview template will be available with the questions the school wish to be covered. Blank copies will be available on the day for you to use.
The school will be briefing and preparing the students in advance of the day with various sessions e.g CV sessions (Students CVs will be available for you on the day).
In these sessions, business leaders hold mock interviews, which are an emulation of a job interview used for training purposes. The exercise usually resembles a real interview as closely as possible, for the purpose of providing a learning experience for students.
Depending on the class size, students can meet with business leaders one-to-one or in small groups within the same classroom or auditorium. The mock interviews can range in the length of time depending on the group size. The key is that the students have a chance to prepare ahead of time and understand this is a great learning opportunity to practice their skills and build their confidence.
