Ark is an academy chain with 12 sixth forms across London, Birmingham and Hastings. Professional Pathways is an innovative programme of study for Ark BTEC students aged 16-18. Teachers are trained to develop a robust and high quality vocational curriculum that is directly relevant to the workplace by engaging with employers to deliver curriculum projects from their work based experiences. The curriculum is then complemented by a bespoke work readiness curriculum which teaches students key employability skills and a university and apprenticeship support programme to help students make informed and ambitious decisions about their post school pathway.

Every term we bring our students together in 'Student Conferences' to support the delivery of the programme. Our Year 13 Professional Pathways Applied Science students (aged 17) will be preparing for an exam in January at the same time as applying to universities and high quality apprenticeships. For their autumn term conference, we are keen for volunteers with expertise in science to spend the morning facilitating round table discussions about key science concepts as part of students’ ongoing revision for their exam in January and to give students a mock interview to help understand how firm their choices are for university or apprenticeship applications.

This event will have both Business and Science students present. We already have volunteers to support our Business students so are after some volunteers to support our Applied Science students (40 of them).

The event will take place at 32A Gerrard St, London W1D 6JA, and will run from 9am until 12:30pm.
