Event description

Opening doors with Languages: Inspiring the workforce of the future

Bringing the world of work to life and providing inspirational ideas for the future! We will raise awareness to our young people of the wealth of opportunities available to them, including highlighting the truly global nature of the world of work. Through this event we aim to show our young people the ways in which knowledge of languages can enhance their employment opportunities and really give them 'the edge' in a busy jobs market.

Our event will be organised as a 'carousel' of talks/workshops where the speakers will offer an insight into their backgrounds, how they achieved their success, and how knowledge of languages and/or understanding of the international dimension to their sector have contributed to this.

We are aiming this event at our S3 pupils before they make their subject choices for their future qualifications, to help them understand the role that different curricular areas, including languages, can play in shaping their future. We hope that hearing from such inspirational speakers will also increase motivation across their range of subjects, by bringing different sectors and fields of work to life.
