Event description

Find Your Future
Inspire our students

Find Your Future invites volunteers to inspire and encourage students to realise their potential and explore opportunities.

We will connect young people with relevant role models to bring graduate jobs to life, for students who have the potential but not currently the inclination, to pursue higher education including degree courses at college or university as well as higher or degree level apprenticeships.

The business ambassadors will be supported to work alongside Business in the Community (BITC) The Prince of Wales Responsible Business network and teachers in the classroom, to deliver 2 interventions exploring career opportunities, the labour market and skills for career success. Businesses will have the opportunity to promote their sector, company and graduate and apprenticeship opportunities to these young people.

The day is split over 2 sessions. Session 1, business leaders will share insights, lessons and tips to motivate and inspire your students to make informed decisions about their future.

Speakers will ‘tell a story’ about their career journey:
• Subjects they studied and how these are relevant now
• What inspired them to choose their career path
• Their failures, as well as successes
• What their company does and why this is important
• What they enjoy most about their career
• Skills currently relevant in the jobs they are doing now.

Session 2 will cover
• Communication
• Social media
• Recruitment processes with a mini assessment centre activity
• A careers speed networking session

We will be offering webinar sessions to Ambassadors in advance of the delivery date, in order to prepare and go through content for each module.

Today, BITC has over half of the FTSE 100 as active members, as part of a membership of 800 businesses, and reaches hundreds more through its campaigns, with over 350 business leaders taking active business roles.
Our work in Education is centred on enabling business to play its part so that every young person, particularly those facing social disadvantage, achieves in education, leading to a successful working life, thriving in business.
