The event was created by Sophie Jonas-Hill for 300 students at Westlands School aged Age 12 - 13.

Event description

Come help build the future!

We're an outstanding rated secondary, with a strong history of success in engineering and math. We specialize in taking students from a diverse and often disadvantaged background, raising aspirations and supporting them to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

In the spring term, our year eight students select their GCSE options, and we recognize what a big decision this is, and to help empower them with the knowledge they need to make the right choice, we're asking for your help.

Alongside university and colleges, apprenticeships and representatives of our sixth form, we would like companies to set up stalls in the school and show case what they do, and just as importantly, how they got there. Students will have the opportunity to informally approach lots of different employers, talk to them personally and ask questions. It is important to note that there should be no expectations of any job opportunities being offered by business leaders at a careers fair but this is a great way for students to experience a wide range of businesses in their local community and for businesses to begin to build their talent pipeline.

Though we run careers events again for our students as the progress through the school, this is the first time many of them will have given their careers serious thought, and you could play a key role in shaping their futures.
