Event description

Mock Interviews

The event is the carrying out of mock interviews by real businesspeople to give our youngsters a feel for the real thing and to provide essential feedback following the interviews. All of S4-6 will receive one. On the day, we have a briefing first thing in the morning from 8.30 onwards till pupils start arriving for interviews from 9.15 onwards. That gives time for interviewers to have a tea or coffee, to mingle, to see where they are going, who they will be paired up with etc Usually, the pairs are not from the same organisation or company. The interviews will finish by 12.45 so participants are not out of the office for a full day.

Pupils are not (usually) applying for a specific job, so therefore the questions are generic – these will be sent out beforehand – but interviewers can feel free to add a relevant question if appropriate. Pupils will hand you a copy of their CV before the interview to assist with personalising/developing questions.

We will also send out beforehand a copy of the Interviewer Feedback Form which is filled in for each pupil. These are collected at the end and key points are collated which we feed back to Year Groups at Assemblies and during Pastoral Care classes – positive and negative key points. Usually a broad range of consensus.
