About the Business Leaders

These business leaders have been chosen because their companies are growing quickly.

About the teacher and students

The event was created by Steven Craig for 75 students at Barley Close Community Primary School aged Age 10 - 11.

Event description

Inspire our students: Play a Dragon Den’s style panellist at our school! (Pitched to by Y6 students with creative in-school business ideas)

In this session, 4 or so business leaders will play the role of a 'Dragon' as 10 groups of 5/6 Year 6 pupils take it in turns to pitch their business ideas to you.

You will kindly:
- Give a short introduction (say a couple of minutes long) about who you are, your background and how you became successful in business (verbal – no presentation / slides required). E.g.
- What inspired you to choose your career path
- What your company does and why it’s important
- The challenges you faced and overcame, as well as successes
- What you enjoy most about your career
- Skills currently relevant in the job you are doing now
- What you’re looking for from the kids today (teamwork, confidence, good product, well-thought-out plan etc)

Groups of children will then pitch to you (the panel) for your business (you will decide, at the end, the budget amount that they’ll each receive (which of course we’ll pay for / organise) by delivering a short 5 or so minute pitch on the product they’ll be selling (they’ll be making and selling their products on Market Day, which takes place at school on the afternoon of Tuesday 17th July – you don’t have to attend this too, but are more than welcome to if you’re free!)

Further information and logistics will follow it you are free and able to accept! As stated elsewhere, it will start around 9:15am and go on to no later than 11:30am on Friday 6th July at Barley Close Community Primary School (BS16 9DL).

No doubt you’re very busy, but if you could kindly let me know either way that would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you!
