Event description

The Importance of Language Skills in Business

The purpose of our event is to promote the learning of other languages and to inspire and motivate our pupils. We want pupils to understand the importance of learning other languages and particularly the relevance of language skills in the world of work. We want our pupils to realise that we are living in a world where there is accelerated globalisation and that any type of business has the possibility to extend over borders. We want to move away from the idea that English is the only language worth knowing, and that the only jobs associated with languages are translators and interpretors. Language proficiency is an extremely important yet scarce skill in the UK. We want to open their eyes to the opportunities that language skills can offer them.
