Event description

Inspire and educate our students during our science project, where we hope to show them the opportunities available to them in science

This summer we are holding our first STEM project which culminates in a Science Day for Year 5 (age 10). This project is supported by The Royal Society of Chemistry and Metaswitch. The aim of the project is to promote positive attitudes towards the learning of science through lively, interactive and fun workshops and activity. Pupils from 15 of our schools will work on STEM-related projects, the best of which will be showcased and these will be judged by a panel of STEM experts. Pupils will get the opportunity to participate in some real lab experiments, explore a mobile interactive technology truck full of the latest technologies and participate in a ‘who am I?’ quiz; pupils will question people working within STEM industries to find out what they do. We want to show the range of career opportunities to all pupils and help develop employability skills for the secondary students. We would welcome as broad/diverse a range of careers as possible. We are looking for people within STEM industries to come and participate in our 'who am I?' quiz and if possible to also be a part of our judging panel. There will also be some opportunity to showcase your own work with a stand/stall during the day. As you can see this event will be very influential for our children and we feel it will give them an insight into the vast opportunities a career in science can achieve.
