These business leaders have been chosen because their companies are growing quickly.
The event was created by Jane Mcmanus for 75 students at Newton Primary School aged Age 10 - 10.
Inspire our students!
We, in Primary 6 at Newton Primary, are delighted three business leaders are able to come to the school on 16th April. The pupils will be researching the different leaders and look forward to hearing their stories and asking them questions.
We are hoping to use this event to launch our new Context for Learning through which our pupils will be running a 'healthy tuckshop' business venture over 4 weeks in the school during the summer term. We plan that the children will learn the following aspects from Curriculum for Excellence; "By experiencing the setting up and running of a business, I can collaborate in making choices relating to the different roles and responsibilities and have evaluated its success." and "I can identify essential goods and services and discuss the different ways to pay for them, considering the benefits and risks of each method".
We will be investigating the best place to get our produce, creating groups to fulfil roles in running a business i.e human resources, customer relations and evaluate the success each week to enable the children to learn from what went well (and what didn't) before running the following week's tuck shop.
The pupils will also be discovering the impact of healthy eating on individual organs within the body.
We will prepare the children to ask questions related to their upcoming business endeavour but if their is anything the visiting business leaders would like to share directly related to this activity we would be grateful.
