Event description

Year 9 Thinking of the future :Careers Speed Networking event

Our Year 9 students are in the process of choosing their GCSE subjects for next year. As a part of the day we run a career networking event where business leaders participate in a series of short, focused conversations about their career journey and their present job role. The event runs throughout the day but normally our guests either choose a morning or afternoon slot. (You can stay all day and lunch is provided!) In total there are about 230 students in the year group but they don't come all at once ,they come down to the school library in class groups of about 30. These groups are then allocated to specific guests for 5x 10 minutes. This is a carousel style activity , where groups of students move between different business leaders, with pre-prepared quick-fire questions.

Speed mentoring offers students the opportunity to ask meaningful questions to a range of different business leaders, to gain an insight into their working life and receive advice on the skills that are needed to be successful in today’s economy and be inspired for their future career journey by your stories.
