Event description

S2 World of Work Carousel - pupils in groups of approx. 10 work around employers to find out more about the world of work.

I am reaching out to employers who would be keen to come and work with our S2 pupils to develop their knowledge of their professions and the pathways into their career area. The event is planned at this time as S2 are about to make their subject choices for their ‘National’ exams and employer input into the process is very valuable to help them make informed decisions.

The aim of the morning is for S2 pupils to
• Engage with people who are currently employed in a range of different jobs
• Develop their understanding of the world of work
• Consider how their subject choices can relate to different careers

Employers would host 10 minute sessions with each group covering any of the following:
• Explaining the employer and employee role to increase knowledge of different occupations – what is it like working there? What do they do?
• Discussion of how employee entered the career they are in – was it their first job? Did they do other things before this?
• What qualification did you need to do the role? What subjects at school would be relevant to the role?
• If possible, a short activity or demonstration of your work – pupils engage well with interactive sessions.
