Year 8 careers/options day
Good Morning
I am contacting you today we are inviting you to attend our year 8 careers day in January. We run this day to assist the students with the daunting task of picking their options to study in year 9 (their GCSES) .
We like to run a career days to coincide with their options evening which school staff run so they can make informed choices about their subjects.
We haven't finalised plans yet as this depends on the number of business volunteers we get. Last year we did like a speed dating session where small groups of pupils moved from employer to employer to ask questions about their job and business. This year we are thinking about doing a career treasure hunt. The students will have a list of questions and they will have to go around the school hall trying to find the answers. This is where you are involved.
If you are able to help us out with this day we would ask you to be available from around 8.15am-2.30pm. If you could reply with your attendance/availability I will then contact you in the new year with further details. Please feel free to circulate the invite with your colleagues
Warm regards
Vicky
Companies will set up stalls in a space set up by the school and may bring business cards, leaflets or some technology to showcase to students. Students will have the opportunity to informally approach lots of different employers, talk to them personally and ask questions. It is important to note that there should be no expectations of any job opportunities being offered by business leaders at a careers fair but this is a great way for students to experience a wide range of businesses in their local community and for businesses to begin to build their talent pipeline.
